Evaluation

I used puffs and a big masthead on my magazine to draw attention to the name and certain places of the magazine. I also used some secondary pictures. My main image is of some year 11s in a pyramid which i think promotes the school as creative fun and team building. This magazine is aimed at the younger years of the school but I used the left hand bottom corner to put people in older years, such as this years sixth form, who can read about thier prom ect. The price is also really lowe becasue a school magazine being expensive wouldnt make sense, a younger teenager wouldn't pay 2.99 for a magazine.
My magazine is aimed at most groups but there is a lot on it about the school sports, Rugby, Cheerleading ect. about thier victories. There is also some academemic parts for people who need help with recent or upcoming events like the mock exams.
My audience is the children of the school, probably the younger years because the colours are bright and lively. Older years like sixth formers may find it appealing but it is aimed at younger years such as year 8-9. It is also aimed for children out of the school who might be interesting in coming or know people from the school.
To attract my audience I used bright colours and short sentences. To much to read for teenagers is boring and they l;ose interest. The fonts are big and bold. Also all the pictures are mainly of people about my target audiences age and they all look happy, not miserable about being in school. Also nearly all the people in the photos are using a direct mode of address which makes the magazine welcoming and happy.
Using publisher is pretty useless if you want to go into datail aobut things. I prefer using paint.net out of everything else. I tried using Photoshop which is just as good but didnt like it as much.
I think in my final product I wouldnt use so many colours and less pictures so the magazine cover wouldn't look so cluttered, but I liked the flatplan for my contents page and think the final product of it would be very appealing.

Prilimary task

For my prilimary task we had to make a front cover for a school magazine and contents page. I made my magazine flatplan in Publisher but the skills on it were too basic so I used Paint.net for my fianl piece. I don't like working with Publisher so used Microsoft Word to do my flatplan for my contents flatplan which was actually quite easy to used but still wasn't creative enough so I wouldn't do my final contents page on it.

The contents page has the same colours as the front cover so it would have a continuous theme.

MASTHEAD/TITLE- Chew on That!
SLOGAN_ Don’t get ‘CHEWS BLUES’

The central image would be of the new sixth form block because that’s the newest thing going on at the moment. My secondary images would be of things going on in the school and sports activities or awards. So place like the gym or in art classes ect.
My audience is the students. All ages but mainly people who want to get involved in activities. Male or female.

My colour scheme would be the colour of the school badge. So red, green and white. The school website also uses these colours so it would link in and have a continuous theme.

School Magazines

King Edward VI High School for Girls
This school is a private school. It seems very formal but doesn't look to strict. The woman on the cover is smiling making the magazine welcoming.

The title is big and bold, writen at the top of the page but it is in white so your eyeds are drwn mainly to the picture which is of either the head mistress or house mother.

I think the magazine would be aimed at the childs parents.

SCHOOL MAGAZINES

Fearnes Community Sports College.

it's represented as very friendly and team building because all of the people are stood together. it also shows it a sports college because they are all holding sports equipment and they are in a gym.

It is a busy picture with lots of people, big writing and bright colours. It makes the school seem cheerful, laid back and active.

I think the magazine is aimed at younger teenagers because the colours a re bright and all the people are the cover are in their teens or younger.

Initial Ideas

My initial ideas would be to do a magazine because I did a comic last year in GCSE and got a really good grade for it. I also read a lot of magazine and the topic is music which I've mentioned before is one of my favourite parts of media.
I don't really know about doing a music video but I havn't ever tried so it might be interesting to have a go... hmmmm?
